ABOUT MORGAN

Morgan J Pearse is a composer based in Northern California and Los Angeles, a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, with a major in Film Scoring. Born and raised in Sligo, northwest Ireland, Morgan holds dual citizenship with the United States, and from an early age he became familiar with the country he now calls home.

Classically trained as a child in piano, he would often sit and spontaneously play along with his parents' record collection. This would later prove to be the early stages of perfect pitch, although at the time it was diagnosed as a 'musical ear'.

In spite of this early affinity for music, his original career path led to software programming, and he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems at University of Limerick, Ireland. During his studies he continued his interest in piano, exploring modern performance styles, and as part of his degree program he studied for a year in the south of France.

At this time his lifelong passion for film, his musical background, and a fascination since teenage years with film scores both classic and modern, aligned and steered him towards film music as a career. While completing his studies in Limerick he successfully enrolled at Berklee, and set the stage for the next chapter in his life.

At Berklee he flourished, studying scoring and orchestration with Don Wilkins and Richard Davis and achieving recognition on the Dean's List for several semesters. In his final semester he interned with Shie Rozow, music editor of Danny Elfman, and worked on the movies Wanted (scored at 20th Century Fox) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (scored at Abbey Road Studios). After receiving his degree, he gained exposure to the rich music of the Middle East while working as an assistant to Yuval Ron, composer of the Academy Award-winning West Bank Story and founding member of the acclaimed Yuval Ron Ensemble.

Morgan currently divides his time between Northern California and Los Angeles, where his work continues in short films, web series, commercials and other forms of advertising.
